The City of Dublin provides microtransit services for seniors, individuals with disabilities and anyone working in Dublin.
The Dublin Connector is introducing a new ride booking experience that is web-based and designed to help riders choose transportation options based on their destination. Sponsored by the City of Dublin and operated by SHARE Mobility, the Dublin Connector is a free, safe transportation service for Dublin residents 55 and over, individuals with disabilities, and anyone working in Dublin. The service is now available for doctor’s office visits and other non-emergency medical or dental visits in the Dublin area.
The new rider app is usable on any device and features “Destination Profiles” that make it easy for riders to choose multimodal options based on where they want to go. Businesses are able to create destination profiles at no cost. More than 100 destinations are available now in Dublin. These profiles provide information about the businesses, including commute times, pick-up and drop-off zones, and ADA accessibility information. Businesses are invited to sign up at DublinOhioUSA.gov/SHARE.
“SHARE has been a vital partner to the City of Dublin, our residents and business community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, providing food deliveries and safe transportation for our most vulnerable populations and essential workers,” says J.M. Rayburn, City of Dublin Planner. “The new app improves the booking experience for riders and helps support our local businesses during this critical time.”
The Dublin Connector provides last-mile transit connections for anyone who works in Dublin. It also helps seniors and those with disabilities maintain physical and emotional wellness. Senior services restarted in October of 2020 after a 6-month hiatus due to COVID-19. Because of the pandemic, safe transportation has become an even greater obstacle for many residents needing access to essential goods, wellness visits and outdoor recreation.
“We are grateful to our partners in the community that leaned in to help us figure out what transportation was needed most and when people felt safe to get out and ride with us again,” says SHARE Mobility CEO Ryan McManus. “The Dublin Connector program is providing an essential service and is an important part of the community’s recovery. This new app allows us to bring the right service to the right person, on-demand.”
The Dublin Connector microtransit service provides round-trip transportation to popular destinations throughout the city, including employers, grocery stores, libraries and more. For seniors and residents with disabilities, the Dublin Connector is available Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For anyone working in Dublin, last mile rides from COTA stops to employment destinations are available seven days a week when COTA is operating. To join the program, qualified riders can sign up online at DublinOhioUSA.gov/SHARE or by phone 833-SHARE-33.
