(Dublin, Ohio) — Original Productions Theatre (OPT) and the Abbey Theater of Dublin will co-present the world premiere production of “Voice of the Net,” written by Otterbein University Associate Professor Jeremy Llorence. The in-person production will be performed June 2-5 and June 9-12, 2022. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students, seniors and matinees (2 p.m. on June 5 and 12). All performances are available for purchase at DublinOhioUSA.gov/abbey-theater.
In an internet-driven and highly political world, Sgt. Donna Lloyd leads a small federal task force dedicated to fighting net crimes, including those of Daria, a cyber-vigilante who has aided several of Lloyd’s cases. When a digital death threat toward a U.S. senator implicates Daria, Lloyd must determine Daria’s true motives before the violence spreads to the real world.
“We are honored and excited to co-produce this unique, futuristic play with Original Productions Theatre,” the Abbey Theater of Dublin’s Theater Supervisor Joe Bishara said. “This show gives audiences a fascinating take on the underbelly of the internet and ample suspense.”

Playwright Jeremy Llorence says, “The world of ‘Voice of the Net’ is set 20 years in the not too-distant future. It is a world where the internet has inextricably embedded itself into all aspects of everyday life, making Wi-Fi a necessity for basic survival.”

Jeremy Llorence (Playwright – Voice of the Net) is a Black American playwright from Metro-Detroit. His 10-minute, one-act and full-length plays have been seen in venues all over the Midwest including Grand Rapids, Milwaukee and Chicago. He is the recipient of the 2018 Playwrights Fellowship from CATCO and the Greater Columbus Arts Council. His play “Cane River King” was the winner of the 2015 Activate: Midwest Festival and has seen production at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theatre. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Grand Valley State University and an Master of Fine Arts from Western Michigan University. He is a Creative Writing faculty member in the English department at Otterbein University.
Joe Bishara (Director) has worked on over 200 theatrical productions across the United States as an award-winning actor, director, educator and producer. He is the Theater Supervisor for the City of Dublin (Abbey Theater of Dublin), founder and Managing Director of New Albany Youth Theatre, and the Creative Consultant for Evolution Theatre Company. Joe is a frequent guest clinician/director/instructor/lecturer for arts organizations, theatres and educational institutions across Ohio. He is the President of Theatre Roundtable, a member of Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) and an associate member of The Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC).
