The public health protectors at Rumpke are working around the clock to keep neighborhoods and businesses clean and green during the current health crisis. With more people at home, we are seeing a significant increase in trash placed curbside. Increased trash at the curb triggers more time to service each stop, extending service time for our drivers. Not to mention, when there is more trash curbside, trucks fill faster – which causes more trips to disposal sites.
If your yard waste, trash or recycling are not collected during the designated day, please leave your bins out by the road until the next day if possible and report the missed collection using GoDublin.
To ensure consistent service, we are asking for your help. Ask yourself the following questions when setting out your trash.
Can I donate it?
Evaluate the items you are setting out to see if they can be donated. Used furniture, bedding, large toys and appliances are often items that can be donated to organizations such as Goodwill.
Do I need to dispose of this all at once?
Often, large amounts of bulk items can slow the process down, if you are able to dispose of your bulky items throughout several collection days, we encourage you to do so.
Did I properly prepare my items?
Items such as carpet or yard waste must be properly prepared prior to setting it out at the curb. Be sure to follow proper guidelines when setting out bulk items and yard waste.
Is my trash visible at the curb?
Make sure your trash is visible for the drivers to pick up.
Can I recycle this?
Certain appliances can be recycled. Check with SWACO to see where and how you can dispose of your electronics and appliances. SWACO also has dropbox locations available if your recycling bin is too full for additional recyclables.
Am I recycling the proper material?
Be sure to place only the following material in your recycling bin:
- Cartons – aseptic containers (such as juice boxes, milk and broth containers)
- Glass bottles and jars
- Plastic bottles and jugs only (no plastic bags or film)
- Paper and cardboard
- Metal cans
Am I disposing of hazardous material?
Drivers cannot collect hazardous material such as batteries, pool chemicals, propane and helium tanks, paint, tires and other unknown liquids. If you set out hazardous items at the curb, they will not be collected. Visit SWACO.org to find a location for proper disposal of hazardous material.
Can I limit my yard waste?
Some tips to limit yard waste include spreading grass on your lawn instead of placing it curbside and asking hired businesses, such as landscapers, to deliver materials directly to a disposal site instead of placing them curbside.
