(Dublin, OH) The City of Dublin and area nonprofit organizations are teaming up to develop a language bank—a database of volunteers fluent in another language, which Dublin nonprofits can access when serving clients in need of translation.
Language is a common barrier for recipients of nonprofit services. In Dublin one in six residents are of Asian descent, and 16.5% of residents are born outside the US. These demographics reflect the diversity of those in need, and diversity of those who can help.
World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development – Tuesday, May 21—kicks off the call for volunteers. Those who are fluent in a language other than English, and would like to volunteer their time to serve as a translator to someone in need, should send an email to: volunteer@dublin.oh.us
