(Dublin, OH) Dublin residents may soon notice a unique vehicle driving down neighborhood streets. Resource International plans to begin a pavement testing project in Dublin as soon as Friday, June 7, 2019.
The company, hired by the City of Dublin, will be collecting pavement thickness and condition data to help prioritize and determine the most economical pavement treatments for the upcoming street repair program.
The picture included with this release shows residents exactly what to expect. As you can see, the testing truck is a white pickup with sensors mounted to the front while pulling a testing trailer. The truck uses radar data to determine pavement thickness and performs pavement testing with a falling weight deflectometer to apply dynamic loads to the pavement to determine the strength of the pavement structure.
These tests are not destructive to the pavement, and the mobile operations will not interfere with traffic or pedestrians. In some cases, pavement samples may be taken from the road by a method of pavement coring. The consultant will immediately fill the holes back in.
