Glencree Place cement stabilization
In the City of Dublin, we are constantly working to improve the quality of our streets and other infrastructure. Glencree Place is currently under construction for sanitary and roadway installation and improvements.
Glencree Place will be rebuilt using a process called cement stabilization. During the process, residents can expect the following:
- Removal of the existing asphalt surface
- Cement spread three to four inches thick over the road base and then milled into the soil
- Curing of cement — the compacted cement must sit idle for three to four days
- Replacement of deteriorated curbs
- Repair of storm drainage inlets
- Replacement of existing asphalt pavement with a new asphalt surface
- Restoration of tree lawns behind the new curb with topsoil and seed
- Restoration of driveway aprons as required by grade changes in curb line in order to correct drainage problems
- Installation of new ADA accessible sidewalk ramps where existing sidewalk is located at the street intersections
If you have any questions or concerns throughout the process, please contact Engineering Project Inspector Doug Fleck at dfleck@dublin.oh.us or by calling 614.410.4668. The City’s Engineering team will work diligently to restore Glencree Place as quickly as possible.
During the cement stabilization process, the road will not be drivable for non-local traffic during the process, which will take several days. Residential traffic will be maintained except for Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, as noted below.
Ultimately, this process will take much less time and be more cost effective than a full depth reconstruction. However, your patience and cooperation will be required for a week or two. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience and assure our residents that the City and contractor will make every effort to reduce the disruption.
When will work take place?
Work to remove the existing asphalt is scheduled to start on Glencree Place Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021. Starting on this date and continuing through Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, on street parking will not be allowed until completion of the roadway reconstruction.
On Friday, Oct. 22, 2021:
- Residents on the east side of Glencree Place will not be able to exit their driveways between 7 a.m. to noon.
- Residents on the west side of Glencree Place will not be able to exit their driveways between noon and 5 p.m.
We ask that residents to make any effort to eliminate or minimize travel to and from their homes during this construction phase. We appreciate our residents’ cooperation and apologize for the inconvenience.
How will I be affected during construction?
Access to Glencree Place, and sometimes residents’ driveways, may be obstructed during construction hours. Your street will be closed to non-local traffic for three to four days during the cement curing process.
We do not plan to disturb private property. However, if any damage does occur to your lawn, it will be repaired.
Your mailbox may be temporarily removed during this process. Temporary mailboxes will be placed during the project to allow for uninterrupted mail delivery. Once the improvements are done, your mailbox will be permanently reset in its original location in the same or better condition than when the project began.
What about City Services?
There will be no changes in your emergency services. The police and fire departments will be notified of all traffic restrictions. All yard waste, garbage and recycling collection should continue according to their normal pick-up schedules unless you are advised otherwise.
What if I have a sprinkler system or underground dog fence by my curb?
If you have a sprinkler system or electric dog fence immediately behind the curb, please notify Doug Fleck at dfleck@dublin.oh.us or 614.410.4668 as soon as possible. Please have the irrigation system or dog fence marked with marking paint or flags prior to construction activities. The contractor will be notified so that they can use caution in the vicinity. Should the contractor damage your sprinkler system or dog fence after the City is notified and the irrigation system or dog fence was marked as requested, the contractor will repair it to its original condition as soon as possible. Once construction begins in front of your house, please test your dog fence before you let your dog out.
Roof drain connections
Many times the existing downspout drain tile from the house that connects to the curb has settled over time. This becomes visible once the curb is removed. The City will reconnect the existing drain tile through the new curb. Elevation adjustments due to the existing drain tile being low are the responsibility of the property owner.
What has the City done to keep debris and noise to a minimum?
Construction projects create noise, dust and other disruptions. The City has restricted hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for this construction work. The contractor will work to minimize dust, clean up debris regularly and fix any damage. Thank you for your patience.
