Dublin City Council approved Economic Development Agreements (EDAs) for three businesses and one nonprofit organization, which will result in 1,471 new jobs and nearly $19 million in income tax revenue. Another 381 jobs would be retained for a total of 1,852 jobs.
Quantum Health, Inc. plans to expand its corporate headquarters into Dublin because the company has outgrown its current leased space in Columbus. The company has been conducting their real estate search in Dublin and other Central Ohio communities, Fort Worth, TX and Nashville, TN. Quantum Health hopes to transition its existing 800 Quantum Health jobs to Dublin, with the additional hiring of 350 new jobs by 2025, for a total of 1,150 jobs in Dublin. The company will be required to sign a minimum 10-year lease within the City of Dublin for the agreement to take effect.
Univar Solutions, Inc. is consolidating and expanding its sales and customer service facility in Dublin. The project would result in the retention of 313 jobs and the addition of 200 new jobs by 2022 and the execution of a 10-year lease on a location within Dublin corporation limits. This retention and expansion project was in competition with office locations in Phoenix, AZ and Dallas, TX.
City Barbeque, LLC also plans a relocation and expansion of its corporate headquarters. The company currently occupies two buildings on Emerald Parkway but has outgrown all 9,000 square feet. It plans to relocate all business units to a single location with the addition of a test kitchen and expanded training facility once its current locations can be sold or subleased. This project will result in the retention of 68 jobs and the addition of 39 new jobs by 2023. This retention and expansion project was in competition with locations elsewhere in the Columbus Region and in the southeastern U.S.
Additionally, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is poised to return and expand its corporate headquarters to Dublin. The company has outgrown their current headquarters in Columbus and has been conducting a real estate search in Dublin and other communities in Central Ohio. This project would result in the relocation of 36 existing Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption jobs to Dublin, with the addition of 46 new jobs by 2025 for a total of 82 jobs.
Established in 1992 by Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is the only national nonprofit charity dedicated to dramatically increasing adoptions from North America’s foster care system.
“These agreements will represent a significant investment in the City of Dublin and a collective win for Dublin, the Columbus Region and the State of Ohio,” says Economic Development Administrator Rachel Ray. “Not only will these EDAs bring hundreds of new jobs to Dublin and retain hundreds more, the agreements also demonstrate long-term commitments from four growing entities.”
“This is a testament to the strength of Dublin’s corporate office market and the City as a desirable place to work,” says City Manager Dana McDaniel. “As a City, we pride ourselves on providing the right conditions for businesses of all sizes and sectors to thrive. These four entities illustrate the diversity in our workforce and Dublin’s universal appeal.”
City Council approved all four EDA ordinances at its June 24 meeting. All four EDAs will net an estimated nearly $19 million over the terms of the agreements for the City of Dublin. (Approximately $11,249,250 over the ten-year lease term for Quantum Health, $5,558,000 over the ten-year lease term for Univar Solutions, approximately $1,407,483 over the ten-year lease term for City Barbeque and approximately $750,094 over the seven-year term for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption).
Univar Solutions and City Barbeque received incentives from the State of Ohio on June 24th. Quantum Health will also be considered for incentives from the State of Ohio next month.
