- The residence must be vacant for the duration of leave in order to obtain a housewatch. If someone will be staying at the residence, we CANNOT accept your house watch.

Vehicle Lockout Assistance
Dublin Police offer vehicle lockout assistance to anyone in Dublin. Should you accidentally lock your keys in a vehicle, you can call the communications center at 614.889.1112.
Dublin Emergency Calling System
The Dublin Emergency Calling System – DECS – automatically alerts residents, businesses and first responders in times of crisis. While most residents and businesses in Dublin are already in the City’s system, signing up now confirms that you will be notified in case of emergency.
Recipients receive time-sensitive information and instructions on how to safely and quickly respond should the City experience an emergency situation, such as a hazardous materials spill, natural disaster, child abduction or homeland security threat.
The system also provides timely communication with other public facilities citywide. Schools, daycare centers and other high-risk facilities can be alerted to take necessary action.

The Dublin Division of Police offers complimentary speakers on a variety of law enforcement topics including personal safety, home security and legal issues. In addition to providing speaker services, the division can provide relevant articles on crime prevention or other law enforcement matters to your organization.

When requesting a Special Duty officer please complete the form below or call 614.410.4800 and ask to speak to the Special Duty coordinator. Call at least three weeks in advance of the job. The job will be made available to all officers and it is up to them to sign up for these jobs; the job is assigned to an officer the week before job date.

Security Surveys
Officers will visit homes and businesses and provide tips on how to better secure your premises. An officer will walk through your dwelling and check items such as window and door locks. He/she will make recommendations regarding lighting and landscaping that could help deter a criminal. You will be provided a checklist of items to periodically assess with respect to making your dwelling safe and secure. You also will receive other informative crime prevention literature. Business Security Sheet
The following information is requested annually from local businesses. This information is used in the event Dublin Police or Washington Township Fire Department needs to contact someone after hours for an emergency such as a break-in, vandalism or fire.

Bicycle Patrol
Dublin Police has 13 officers dedicated to the bike patrol unit. These officers use bicycles in addition to their motor vehicles to patrol Dublin’s streets and shared-use paths. Officers assigned to this unit also are available to conduct bicycle safety talks for organizations and civic groups. To schedule a presentation, call 614.410.4800.
D.A.P.P.
Dublin’s Drug Abuse Prevention Program, known as D.A.P.P, is an educational drug prevention program presented by uniformed police officers. The City of Dublin offers this program to schools in the Dublin School District. D.A.P.P. provides interaction with students in Middle School and High School through designated programs and an approved curriculum that gives students the skills necessary to resist drug experimentation.
Group Tours
The Dublin Justice Center, located at 6565 Commerce Parkway, is a perfect tour site for youngsters and seniors alike. Built in 1993, the 42,000 square-foot facility features a state-of-the-art communications center, firing range, jail and physical fitness facility. Tours are scheduled through the community relations office of the Division of Police.
Traffic Safety Programs
Residents who live in neighborhoods that are perceived to have a speeding problem are eligible to participate in the Traffic Safety Program. The program requires that at least two adults from the neighborhood attend a radar training session with a police officer. Upon completion of the program, residents are eligible to borrow radar equipment to use in their neighborhood. Speed watchers report the license plates of speeding vehicles to the Division of Police. A courtesy letter is sent to the registered owner of the vehicle.
The Traffic Safety Program also includes the use of an automated speed-monitoring trailer. This trailer is battery and solar panel powered and is able to monitor traffic patterns in a given neighborhood for several days at a time. The unit records the number of vehicles and the speed of each vehicle. This data is used to identify any traffic-related problems.
Canine Unit
The division features one canine unit, Barrie, and works with Officer Eric Cochrun. The pair’s main duties include building and area searches, evidence location, criminal apprehension and narcotic detection. Barrie and Officer Eric Cochrun are available for group demonstrations and appearances at special events.
Business & Employee Services
The Dublin Police Department serves as an excellent partner to businesses and employees throughout the City. The Department ensures an unparalleled level of safety through patrols, incident response and through several proactive programs and services:
- Personal Safety Program – delivered on demand to groups of 10 or more people and is customized for the company needs.
- ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) – Active Shooter Response Program- this can be a classroom type presentation and involve practical drills if desired
- Business Safety Surveys – a basic assessment of businesses with a focus on physical security and procedures. We can make recommendations in the area of CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) and safety policy and practices.
- White Collar Crime Presentation – investigators available to give an overview of this type of crime. Identity theft prevention can be included in this type of presentation.
- Corporate Safety Drills – Observation and Feedback – Officers provided to observe and evaluate drills such as fire, active threat and other types of emergency drills.
- C.A.P.I.T.A.L. Group (Corporate And Police Information, Training And Liaison.) – This is a networking group that meets every couple of months to talk about corporate safety/security and crime trends within the community. It is primarily composed of corporate security representatives, but all are welcome.
