(Dublin, OH) Enjoy all the Halloween fun without the fright at the City of Dublin’s annual Halloween Spooktacular, Trick-or-Treat and other “fangtastic” activities. This year’s Halloween Spooktacular will feature both virtual and in-person socially distanced activities throughout the month of October.
In addition to traditional costume masks, facial coverings are required in compliance with state and local health guidelines. Among the safe ways to celebrate at this year’s Halloween Spooktacular include:
- Dublin Drive-in Movies. Bring your own popcorn and candy corn to Coffman Park for some not-so-spooky movies! Admission is free but preregistration is required. Attendance is limited to Dublin residents and Dublin School District residents. Movies include:
- Oct. 3 – Scoob!
- Oct. 10 – The House with a Clock in its Walls
- Oct. 17 – Beetlejuice
- Oct. 18 – Coco
- Oct. 23 – The Addams Family
- Oct. 24 – The Nightmare Before Christmas
- Oct. 30 – ET
- Oct. 31 – Hocus Pocus
- Haunted Trail. Dress in your Halloween best and head to the wooded trail (next to the Dublin Community Recreation Center) for spooky sounds, Halloween décor, lights and fog. No candy will be handed out this year. The Haunted Trail will be open from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 27, 28, 30 and 1 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 31. It is closed on Thursday, Oct. 29, which is Trick-or-Trick night in Dublin. Registration is required and time slots are limited to 60 guests every 20 minutes to ensure physical distancing along the Haunted Trail. Guests will need to present their registration receipt for entry. Attendance is limited to Dublin residents and Dublin School District residents.
- Storybook Walk. New this year is a Storybook Walk featuring “If You’re Scary and You Know it” by children’s book author Carole Gerber. Readers of any age may participate in the interactive tale by clapping, hopping, and singing along as they follow the path.
- Pumpkin Hunt. Starting at the Dublin Community Recreation Center’s front entrance, use the clues and online map to find six hidden pumpkin signs throughout Coffman Park.
- Hay Maze. Wind your way through the Hay Maze and be on the lookout for friendly skeletons and scarecrows around each corner.
- The Storybook Walk, Pumpkin Hunt and Hay Maze may all be enjoyed at visitors’ leisure and will be available Tuesday, Oct. 27 through Saturday, Oct. 31.
- Spooktacular Contests. For those who would like to celebrate the Halloween season from home, the City of Dublin will also host a variety of online Spooktacular contests. Categories include Pumpkin Carving, House Decorating, Pet Costume, Kid Costume and Family Costume. Contestants can enter to win by submitting their photo by Oct. 25. Winners will be announced on Oct. 31 and featured on the City of Dublin’s website.
It’s Halloween at the Dublin Community Recreation Center and you’re invited! The Recreation Center has come up with a plethora of safe, merry-not-scary experiences that are fun for the whole family. Check out the following experiences and plan your Halloween extravaganza.

Abbey Theater Virtual Productions
The Abbey Theater of Dublin’s Virtual Theatre Project productions of “Aliens, 3 Miles, Turn Left” and “Dracula” are another way to virtually celebrate Halloween this year. These performances will be streamed online for patrons to get in the spooky spirit.
“Aliens, 3 Miles, Turn Left” will premiere at 7 p.m. from Oct. 16 through 18 and Oct. 22 through 25. Those who purchase a ticket of $5 per stream will receive a digital link to view the performance for a limited time. This family-friendly play features a man at home who imagines himself being interviewed by Oprah. He tells her all about his mundane life, marriage, job…and an alien encounter.
Now for a play you can really sink your teeth into, “Dracula,” will premiere at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23 on the City of Dublin’s Facebook page. This free to stream performance is a mini-melodramatic virtual masterpiece that’s quick, fun and appropriate for all ages!
Trick-or-Treat in Dublin
In addition to The City of Dublin’s planned Halloween celebrations, the City will proceed with its annual Trick-or-Treat Beggar’s Night from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2020. The City continues to follow Franklin County Public Health’s advice and guidelines as well as best practices from the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) regarding Beggar’s Night. Residents are strongly encouraged to follow Governor Mike DeWine’s and the Ohio Department of Health’s recommendations on how to celebrate Halloween responsibly to keep your family, friends and neighbors healthy.
