The 9,300 square foot fitness floor is set with a wide range of state-of-the-art fitness equipment. It offers a full line of Cybex selectorized equipment, a free weight area, several plate-loaded weight machines, an abdominal and stretching area, and a large variety of cardio equipment. Please note, the facility is not equipped as a powerlifting or CrossFit facility.
Included in the cardio area are 17 treadmills, 18 ellipticals/cross trainers, 13 cycles, 8 steppers and two rowers. Fitness Attendants are available to assist with any questions and are available by appointment for general orientations. To utilize the fitness floor, you must be age 16 years or older. Youth ages 12-15 may use the fitness floor if directly supervised by an adult or if they have passed the Junior Fitness Card class.
A 1/13 mile three-lane track overlooks the fitness floor and gymnasium. Included in the track area are several pieces of cardio equipment and an abdominal and stretching area.
To access the track, you must be age 13 years or older. Youth ages 8-12 may use the track if directly supervised by an adult or if they have passed the Junior Track Class.

Fitness Floor Rules
- For your safety, you must be 16 years of age or older to use the fitness floor equipment. Youth ages 12 – 15 may use the fitness floor and equipment if they are directly supervised by an adult or have passed the Junior Fitness Card Class.
- Strollers and infant carriers are not permitted on the fitness floor. No children/infants under the age of 12 are allowed on the fitness floor.
- All Personal Trainers must be sanctioned by the DCRC Fitness Supervisory Staff.
- Fitness Floor Orientations are suggested and are available by appointment.
- All equipment must be used according to the directions posted on the machine or as directed by the Fitness Floor Staff.
- Proper attire (shirts, pants/shorts, and athletic shoes) is required while on the fitness floor or in the group fitness studios. Open toe shoes and dress shoes are prohibited.
- You must use the spray bottles and green towels or paper towels provided to wipe off equipment after each use.
- Jumping rope is prohibited on the weight room and cardio room floor. You are allowed to jump rope on the gymnasium floor and group fitness studios when classes are not occupying those rooms, and on the track if kept out of the lanes.
- You must re-rack all barbells, dumbbells and weight plates after you have finished using them and return all equipment to its proper location.
- Olympic bars must only be used on or tucked close to the Olympic benches (away from walkways) or inside the squat racks. The fitness staff reserves the right to determine appropriate locations of any exercises.
- For the safety of others, you may not bring steps, dumbbells, barbells, weight plates, or kettlebells in the abdominal/stretching area.
- You may not drop dumbbells and barbells, or allow weight stacks to slam.
- You may not use the fitness floor equipment if you are wet from using the pool.
- You must allow others to rotate in while using weight equipment if you are taking long breaks between sets.
- Use of profanity is prohibited. Be courteous to others and refrain from loud conversations and loud noises and outbursts.
- Electronic devices are allowed on the fitness floor provided you use them in a safe manner, and as long as doing so does not cause disruptions to other patrons’ workouts, i.e. texting in between sets while occupying the equipment
- All devices must be used with headphones and are not to be audible to other fitness floor users.
Track Rules

Youths ages 8 – 12 are allowed on the track if they are directly supervised by an adult or have passed the Junior Track Class. Children may not sit in the stretching areas while their parents are using the track.
- For your safety, you must be 16 years of age or older to use the cardio equipment on the track. Youth ages 12 – 15 may use the cardio equipment if they are directly supervised by an adult or have passed the Junior Fitness Card Class.
- Proper attire (shirt, pants/shorts, and athletic shoes) is required while on the track, cardio equipment on the track or in the stretching areas. Open toe shoes and dress shoes are prohibited.
- Standing on the track is prohibited. Only walkers and joggers are allowed in the track lanes. You may not watch gym activities from the track.
- For the safety others, you must be courteous to other patrons on the track by watching carefully when you enter and exit the track. Walk in the inner track lanes and yield to faster runners and walkers. Leave outer lanes for passing.
- You may not walk side-by-side during peak times, and stay in the inside lane. Please be aware of people who are trying to pass. If there are a lot of people using the track, we ask that walkers walk single file in the inside lane.
- You must follow the blue sign with the white arrow that indicate the track direction.
- You may not walk or run backwards.
- Strollers, baby joggers, and roller blades are not permitted on the track.
- You may not lean on or over the railing.
- Basketballs, volleyballs, and other gym balls are not permitted on the track. Do not throw balls from the track to the gym.
- You must use the spray bottles and green towels or paper towels provided to wipe off equipment after each use.
DCRC Fitness Floor Opportunities
The DCRC has a class or service to help you start a fitness program, update your current program or provide one-on-one training. Many of our fitness attendants have completed or are pursuing degrees in the health and exercise industry.
Fitness Orientations:
A fitness attendant provides individuals or groups with general information about fitness floor policies, and how to use the exercise equipment. Fitness Orientations are dependent on staff availability, and are free to DCRC pass holders. Appointments are made by scheduling with a fitness attendant at the DCRC or by calling 614-410-4550. If you are interested in developing a personalized fitness program, you may be interested in personal training or fitness testing.
Senior Adult Fitness Orientations
Regular exercise is important for the physical and mental health of everyone, including older adults. Exercising regularly can produce long-term health benefits, improve the health of older adults living with disease or disability, and help maintain independence. A Senior Fitness Orientation will provide individuals or small groups an introduction to the fitness floor, an opportunity to learn specific recommendations and benefits of exercise for older adults, and a chance to become familiar with various forms of exercise to improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, and flexibility. Senior Fitness Orientations are dependent on staff availability and are free to DCRC pass holders. Appointments are made by scheduling with a fitness attendant at the DCRC or by calling 614.410.4550.
