Preschool/Youth Programs Overview
While we provide many age specific program opportunities at the Dublin Community Recreation Center for our teen, adult, and senior population, our specialty is for ages six months to 12 years old.
We provide year round, inclusive, affordable and valuable programming opportunities for City of Dublin residents. We develop and offer programming options that span from arts & crafts, to preschool open gym, to parent child classes, to youth sports, and everything kid-approved in between. Typically, our programs are held at the DCRC or one of Dublin’s community parks, but we also host programs at a variety of other public locations throughout the city.
Programs are offered in two different formats to allow families the ability to pick a program that best fits their schedule, interest and desired length. We offer one-day events, such as a seasonal family holiday program, and recurring session programs. The recurring session programs offer one or two classes a week over the course of multiple weeks, such as a karate or ceramics program designed for participants to progress and learn new skills at each class. Another example of a recurring session programming is one, which builds from session to session. These programs allow participants the ability to start in a beginner stage, and then progress upward into intermediate and advanced levels, allowing families the ability to continue programs with us while progressing through new skill levels.
The Preschool/Youth team offers one of the most robust programming schedules for families to choose from at the Dublin Community Recreation Center. We also offer a summer camp experience, which focuses on providing a safe, FUN camp experience for your child, developmentally specific to their needs, with positive peer connections that build respect and social skills along with fine and gross motor development.
We place a high value on recreation and recognize the many benefits of offering engaging programs to the preschool and youth in our community. So if you’re looking for something new for the kids to learn, active time to spend with the family, somewhere to meet new friends and neighbors, or even just to take a break and relax? Follow our lead and register for one of our programming options that is best for you.

Frequently Asked Questions?
Program Reminder Emails: Registered participants will receive a Program Reminder Email from Rachel Keitz approximately 3-5 days prior to the start of their program. This email includes; dates, times, locations, equipment needed, inclement weather policies, and covid-19 information.
Program Enrollment Numbers: Just a note that if we do not receive the minimum number of participants for a program one week prior to the start date, that program is in danger of cancellation – so register early and share with friends! Do not hesitate to enroll if you see low enrollment either – sometimes your one enrollment could be the one to get the program offered. Best advice: REGISTER EARLY!
Waitlist Enrollments: If an enrollment spot becomes available for a program, waitlist participants will be contacted (in order of waitlist number), via email, approximately one week prior to that start of the program. The waitlist enrollment email will provide you with program information and provide you the option to enroll/pay for the program, or to be removed from the waitlist.
*If you are not contacted by Rachel Keitz, Recreation Coordinator, in regards to your waitlist enrollment, you will not be registered for the program. No news from us means no enrollments spots are available.
Parent Policy: All preschool/youth programs require parents to bring their child directly to the room for the program to sign them in, and to sign them out at the conclusion of the program (if not a parent participation program). With your child’s best interest in mind and to provide the best learning environment, we ask that all parents refrain from entering the teaching area during classes. This eliminates any interruptions between the instructor and participants. We feel it is beneficial for the children to have time alone to interact with their peers. To provide a safe environment, students must be able to follow directions and not be disruptive.
Sibling Policy: Due to the structure of the child/parent programs, only children who are the appropriate age for the class will be permitted to register and attend the program. No younger or older siblings are allowed in the classroom to sit and watch or be left unattended in the lobby. For your convenience, we have a Wee Folk Room available for families who are in need of sibling care during our programs.
Healthy Kids: If your child experiences any signs or symptoms of illness, please do not bring them to the programs at the DCRC. Symptoms of seasonal flu include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Please be aware that if your child becomes ill or vomits during any of our preschool/youth programs, they must be removed from the facility right away. Refunds are not available due to illness.
Inclement Weather Policy: In general, DCRC class/activity schedules coincide with Dublin City Schools. When school is cancelled, all daytime DCRC classes are cancelled, and a decision regarding evening classes (those after 4 p.m.) will be made by 3 p.m. When schools are released early, all evening classes at the DCRC are cancelled. If you are unsure if a class will be held due to weather, please check our website at http://dublinohiousa.gov/recreation/closings for the latest updates and cancellations before heading out. You can also call our pre-recorded information hotline at 614-410-4946. In the event of a cancellation due to weather, we will make every attempt to offer a make-up class. Instructors/Recreation Coordinator will provide information on make-up classes.
Preschool/Youth Participants will be informed of any program cancellations due to inclement weather VIA EMAIL, no less than 2 Hours before the start of their program. No news from us is good news!
Makeup Policy: No makeup classes are offered for program dates missed by participants. Classes cancelled due to weather or program logistical issues, will be made up at a later date, at the original program time. If facility or instructor schedule does not permit, a refund will be issued. All participants are contacted via email (sent to the email address provided during registration) and are notified of the make-up date. No individual accommodations are made if participants are unable to attend the make-up class provided.
General Refund Policy: A cancellation request form must be submitted to the Welcome Desk of the DCRC at least 7 business days prior to the first day of class, for a refund of fees paid less a $15 administrative fee. No refunds are processed after this time. Participants assume risk and responsibility for changes in personal schedules or health. A full refund is issued if the Division of Recreation Services cancels an activity or rental.
Volunteer
If you’re available one day per week between 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., our preschool classes need volunteers to help make programming possible. Days and opportunities vary. Email Shannon at volunteer@dublin.oh.us if you can help.
Accommodation Requests
Parks & Recreation Services promotes an inclusive policy for all of our programs. To provide the best overall experience for your child or to carry over IEP/504 accommodations, an appointment must be made for an inquiry of needs. Contact Jodi Shealy, Adaptive Recreation Coordinator, at 614.410.4574. An accommodation plan MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO your child’s program or camp registration. This plan is required for each seasonal enrollment.
